BLOG TOUR: Stripped by Jasinda Wilder

So how did I get myself into this situation, you ask? Simple: desperation. When you're faced with being homeless and hungry or taking off your clothes for money, the choice is easier than you'd imagine. That doesn't make it easy, though. Oh no. I hate it, in fact. There's nothing I'd like more than to quit and never go into another bar again, never hear the techno beat pulsing in my ears again, never feel the lecherous gazes of horny men again.

Then, one day, I meet a man. He's in my club, front and center. He watches me do my routine, and his gaze is full of hunger. Not the kind of desire I'm used to though. It's something different. Something hotter, deeper, and more possessive. I know who he is; of course I do. Everyone knows who Dawson Kellor is. He's People Magazine's Sexiest Man alive. He's the hottest actor in Hollywood. He's the man hand-picked for the role of Rhett Butler in the long-awaited remake of Gone With the Wind.

He's the kind of man who can have any woman in the entire world with a mere crook of his finger. So what's he doing looking at me like he has to have me? And how do I resist him when he looks at me with those intoxicating, changeable, quicksilver eyes?

I'm a virgin, and he's an American icon of male sexuality. I'm a stripper, and he's a man used to getting anything and everything he wants. And he wants me. I know I should say no, I know he's the worst kind of player…but what my mind knows, my body and my heart may not.

And then things get complicated.

REVIEW

I was so excited to read this one! It grabbed me from the beginning. Grey is from a southern town and lives under the thumb of her strict father. She's a preacher's daughter and she's not allowed to do much of anything. His views are very narrow. She feels trapped, but is eventually able to break free. Jasinda really nailed it with the whole bible belt, close-minded mindset that many people have around here. As someone that has grown up in Tennessee, I can personally vouch that... YES, some people are really like that.

When a sweet southern girl goes to LA on her own, that's like throwing her into a lion's den and saying "good luck." Sweet little Grey is tough as nails though and she makes it work. You know she had it bad back at home when she made the choice to strip to pay for her college tuition rather than call her Father for help. Grey hates stripping and everything it represents, but she has to make it through college and that's the only way she can. When famous actor, Dawson, comes into the strip club he see's right through her facade. He immediately recognizes that she doesn't belong there. Their paths cross in another part of Grey's life and that's when their story really begins.

"Babe, I'm mad for you, not at you."

Its so sexy. Definitely the sexiest Jasinda Wilder book that I've read thus far. You know what they say about preacher's daughters (hehe). I just have to share this quote.

"I just sinned. I had sex with a man. Three times, I had sex with him. Well, twice. I'm not sure if making him orgasm with my mouth counts as sex, but it definitely counts as a sin. And letting him do the same, more times than I can count? He made me orgasm so many times. I never even bothered counting.

Does that multiply my sin?

I'm not married to him. Not even engaged. I'm not even positive of his middle name. I don't know where he went to high school."

Ultimately, this is a good book. It was a 5 star read for me until it hit around 85%. I wish she would have ended it there. After that, it just draaaaggged for me. I was thinking No, no, this is supposed to be 5 stars. Stop. It was just like one really long epilogue and I'm not always a fan of the sappy epilogues. If you are the girl that loves the epilogues, I'm sure you'll love it. If I'm telling you the truth, I still would have given it 5 stars if it hadn't been for that last sex scene. Gosh, it was so graphic and I just didn't feel it. WHY? I'm pretty open to all kinds of sex scenes, but this just didn't work for me. I found myself squinting at the pages hoping I was hallucinating. No, no. Ow. LOL.

So, my rating...the majority of the book was 5 stars. That last little bit brought it down for me. I'm making a happy average at almost 4 stars! I loved Grey and Dawson. Laughed out loud several times. As much as I'm complaining about that ONE sex scene, there are like TEN others that are supremely HOT! I'd definitely recommend it.
