BLOG TOUR: Thief by Tarryn Fisher

Note to Self

Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn't boast or brag.
There's no arrogance in love;
it's never rude, crude, or indecent-it's not self absorbed.
Love isn't easily upset.
Love doesn't tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I'll fight for her.

Thief

Caleb Drake never got over his first love. Not when he got married. Not when she got married. When life suddenly comes full circle Caleb must decide how how far he is willing to go to get the aloof and alluring Olivia Kaspen back. But for every action in life there is a consequence, and soon Caleb finds out that sometimes love comes at an unbearably high price.

REVIEW

The Opportunist tells Olivia’s side of the story, Dirty Red tells Leah’s, and, finally, Thief tells Caleb’s! I couldn’t wait to read Caleb’s story, because I wanted to know WHY? Why did he screw things up with Olivia, why did he stay with Leah…why, WHY, WhY?! Honestly, at the beginning, I was a little frustrated with him. Really, Caleb, really? You trusted what Leah said…AGAIN?

Mostly, Thief just made me sad. I didn’t like some of the revelations that came out. It made everything ten times worse. He made it harder for me to blame him considering he didn’t actually do some of the things I thought he did. At times I just wanted to cry, because how can two people have so many misunderstandings? How can the timing be wrong THAT many times? I lost count of all the lies that landed them in their heartbreaking predicament.

“But, Olivia loves you with her lies. She lies about how she’s feeling, how she’s hurting, how she wants you when she tells you she doesn’t. She lies to protect you and herself.”

In The Opportunist the timing wasn’t right for Caleb. In Thief it’s not right for Olivia. Olivia tried so hard to move forward with her life and she actually succeeds for a while, but Caleb always comes bounding back in to her life at the worst times. AND HE WAS RELENTLESS IN THIS BOOK. He fought for her. FINALLY!

As much as I loved them together, I was at the point where I was actually thinking…maybe you just need to let her go and let her be happy Caleb. I loved them together but their journey was exhausting. Olivia and Leah’s stories were so warped that it kind of clouded the heartbreak in the first two books, but Caleb’s story is just…SAD! I was actually pretty bummed about that. The Opportunist and Dirty Red were so scandalous and I wanted that from Thief. Caleb’s brain just wasn’t as warped as Olivia and Leah’s and I was a little disappointed. HAHA.

They loved each other so much, but they continued to let each other go…

"I know, I know, I know that I am the match and she is the gasoline and without each other we are just two objects void of reaction."

It kills me to say this. I LOVE THIS SERIES, but the ending to Thief was a little lackluster for me. It was nice to see Olivia and Caleb get closure. --- Not telling you what happens!!
I just wish it was a little more dramatic. It felt a little like settling to me. I just didn’t like the feeling it gave me in my gut. Where was the fire? I wanted my heart to be racing. Instead it just felt… tired. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Thief. This is one of my favorite series. EVER. I think I might have expected too much. I can’t wait to see what comes next for Tarryn Fisher. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to Olivia and Caleb. I LOVE YOU O & C!
