Synopsis
Twenty-one-year-old Sophia Ross has lived under the pressure of her parents expectations since the tragic accident that shattered their once perfect family. Determined to start over where no one knows her, she answers a housing ad on Craigslist and takes a job at a little bar in a town she has never heard of. All Sophia's looking for is a place to escape, somewhere she can hide behind her lies and keep herself distracted.
She just didn’t expect to be distracted by Corbin Kasey.
Twenty-five-year-old Corbin Kasey is stuck in his hometown, his job, and his life, spending more time covering for his Dad’s problems than trying to fix his own. To take his mind off everything he has the wild Kayla, his stable roommates, and the calmness of swimming in Mills Lake. He always thought it was enough to keep him from drowning in himself, until he meets Sophia.
Neither of them are prepared for their lies to be stripped away by a single kiss. But for Corbin and Sophia, the truth has consequences.

Review:
The Truth About Us was a fantastic debut novel by TJ Hannah. I had no idea what to expect, but I was hooked from the very beginning. Told in dual POV (my absolute favorite!), we're able to get into the minds of both Sophia and Corbin, and it made for truly authentic storytelling that I just couldn't get enough of.

Something happened to turn Sophia's life upside down, causing her to run away and leave behind all she's known- the overbearing parents who seemed disappointed in her every move, the life her parents wanted that she no longer does, so she moves to a small town to reinvent herself. Her plan is to build a new life separate from her past, but life always has a way of catching up with you. She's able to get a job as a bartender, and the moment she meets the owner's son, Corbin, sparks fly.

Corbin, used to his casual hook-ups, with Kayla, finds himself instantly attracted to Sophia. It's not long before they're drawn to each other, and the more time they spend together only shows just how hard they're going to fall. The thing is, they've both got their secrets. How do you lay it all on the line when telling the truth could destroy the only happiness you've ever known?.

I was completely enthralled with TJ Hannah's debut novel. The writing sucked me in from page one and I couldn't put it down. She did an amazing job tapping into the emotions of both characters, and right alongside them I felt their joy, their sorry, and their pain.

I would've liked to have seen a little more detail on the accident that has been plaguing Sophia. We get skims of it on the surface, but I'd really love to dive deep down into that painful experience and feel every single moment of it. Also, I feel like we need more insight on Kayla. She starts off as a friend, but quickly turns foe with little prompting. I'm hoping we get inside her brain eventually. These are things I'd love to know more about, but the lack of detail didn't ruin the story for me. I'm just a greedy reader and want more. Additionally, I fell in love with the side characters, especially Tobie and Tosh. I hope to see much more of them in the future.

Overall, this was a fresh, original story that had me engrossed from the first page. I can't wait for the next book and will be waiting on pins and needles for Rylie and Gaby's story! I also hope we still get to see more of Corbin, because I fell head over heels in  love with him! I highly recommend this book!!
